In our opinion, one of the promising directions for solving this problem is CVD (gas-phase deposition) of protective cavitation-resistant coatings based on iron boride on the inner surface of pipe bends. Iron boride has a high hardness, chemical inertness, does not dissolve in water; therefore, this material is promising for protecting pipelines from cavitation shocks. Based on the results of the thermodynamic calculations of the hydrogen reduction of boron trichloride, the gas dynamics of the flow of the vapor-gas mixture BCl3: H2, the study of the kinetics of the growth rate of coatings based on iron borides, the parameters of the gas-phase deposition of coatings on simulating samples of the inner surface of the bends of the switching pipelines were determined. Cavitation and corrosion tests have shown that samples with iron boride coatings are more resistant to erosion and corrosive wear than the substrate material.
