The methodology for determining the breeding value of rabbits using breeding methods and population genetics has been improved. The influence of some genotypes on genetic markers MSTN and PGR on the variability of phenotypic indicators of meat productivity and reproductive qualities of rabbits and characteristics of their breeding value was confirmed. Animals with AG and GG genotypes on the PGR marker were distinguished by the best indicators on the basis of multiple births; animals with CC genotypes according to the MSTN gene were distinguished by the best indicators on the basis of meat productivity. The use of BLUP-assessment of rabbits Poltava silver on the indicators of "average daily gain" and "reproductive ability" allowed to rank the offspring of the studied population on the indicator of breeding value, which can be further used in breeding work.
