A review and analysis of sociological research on COVID-19 during this period was accomplished. Based on sociological indicators of public opinion research, it has been conducted the analysis of socio-political consequences of the legitimacy of the social order in Ukraine in a pandemic, in particular in such aspects as the trust in government institutions and assessing the effectiveness of public policy in countering a pandemic; paternalistic and authoritarian social sentiments; protest potential and manifestations of social self-organization. Methodological tools for research on latent socio-structural changes under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine have been developed. The trends of changes in this area are outlined. The socio-psychological manifestations and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are analyzed, their peculiarities in Ukraine are revealed, the social well-being of the population is diagnosed in the conditions of the epidemic, the dynamics of psychological distress is analyzed and changes in social expectations and daily life practices are recorded. The effects of the coronavirus crisis on the value mentality of society and on the cultural practices of the population (conditions of rest, leisure, participation in culture) have been studied. The concept and issues of infodemia are formulated, methodological approaches to further study of coronavirus dynamics in the socio-cultural sphere are developed. The results of the work performed at the first stage of the study are a successful approbation of the chosen methodological approaches and require further sociological diagnosis given the certain inertia of the manifestations and social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine.
