It was found that for ferritic-martensitic steel T91 without prior hardening treatment in a lead melt with an oxygen concentration of 5×10-7 wt.% corrosion process is intergranular in nature, which is characterized by etching of grain boundaries and penetration of the melt into the matrix with simultaneous dissolution of alloying elements Cr, Mn at exposures up to 500 hours. At an exposure of 1000 h, the formation of an oxide film based on Cr and Si on the surface was recorded, which serves as a barrier between the surface and the lead melt. For T91 steels that have been subjected to hardening treatment, at exposures up to 500 h, a non-continuous oxide film is formed, which partially protects the surface from lead melt. At an exposure of 1000 h, a continuous oxide film is formed, similarly to steel samples without prior hardening treatment, which protects the surface from the negative effects of lead melt. It is established that the pre-hardening treatment intensifies the process of formation of oxide films on the steel surface with the holding time, and the formed structure blocks the penetration of lead into the depth of the matrix.
