Mobile hydrogen energy converter - a source of autonomous power supply of elements and devices of military equipment (MHEC) popup.stage_title Head Schur Dmytro V., Registration Date 10-02-2021 Organization Institute of Problems of Materials Science named after IM Frantsevich of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  At the first stage of project implementation in Section II(0120U103899)were: 1.Fullerenes of the required modification were synthesized; 2.Fullerite for mechanical mixturewas extracted, isolated and crystallized; 3.Preliminary studies of hydrogen adsorption properties of fullerite have been carried out. During the works of the first year, the peculiarities of the formation of carbon nanostructures during arc evaporation of graphite in the gas phase were studied. The expediency of considering five–atom cycles in the C60 fullerene framework as five–atom molecules that form it is substantiated. The mechanism of formation of fullerene framework C60 from five–atom molecules is offered. The name of modifications of C60 fullerene molecules, which differ in temperature of existence and different number of double bonds in their five–atom cycles, is offered. Thus, at the first stage it is established that the efficiency of arc synthesis of fullerenes depends on many process parameters: current strength and voltage value, buffer gas pressure and its nature, exposure time of fullerene–containing carbon plasma at optimal temperature, as well as reactor design and geometry, shape and the size of the graphite electrodes, their evaporation rate and the distance between them. The paper shows for the first time that the fullerene molecule consists of five – atom molecules, has its own spx–hybridization, and for this reason fullerene should be isolated as a new allotropic modification of carbon. All carbon atoms in the framework of the fullerene molecule are chemically active. It is shown that fullerene molecules are formed in the gas phase and then sorbed by the developed surface of the graphite–like component. The possibility of hydrogenation of C60 fullerite with hydrogen gas is also shown. Previous studies have shown that the fullerene molecule can be hydrogenated to 6 wt.%, which will increase the hydrogen capacity of the working fluid by 3–4 times compared with AB5 type alloys.
