Mobile hydrogen energy converter - a source of autonomous power supply of elements and devices of military equipment (MHEC) popup.stage_title Head Kartel Mykola T., Доктор хімічних наук Registration Date 10-02-2021 Organization Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry of NAS of Ukraine popup.description2 A working model of a hydrogen storage for a mobile hydrogen energy converterwas created, which included: 1.Theoretical calculations of the hydrogen storagealloy chemical composition; 2.Smelting of metal hydride alloy type AB5; 3.Activation of the alloy type AB5; 4.Modeling and manufacture of high pressure container for metal hydride storage; 6.Creation of a working pilot sample of a hydrogen converter. Intermetallic Mm0,2Ce7,5La9,3Ni83 (Fe, Al) was used as the final working hydride-forming material. The composition of this intermetallide was specially designed to provide a satisfactory sorption rate at a pressure of 5 MPa and a temperature of 313 K. The desorption pressure reaches 0.6 MPa at a temperature of 313 K. This intermetallic was made by melting appropriate amounts of mishmetal, lanthanum, nickel and aluminumin a controlled atmosphere. The isotherms of the working alloy were investigated. After activation, the reversible hydrogen capacity of the material was measured, which amounted to 1.82 wt. % hydrogen. The created hydrogen storage has many advantages over its modern counterparts: • Developed radiator system improves heat exchange with the environment during operation; • Hydrogen storage is made of duralumin, which makes it too light (mass of the cylinder is 70 grams against 240 grams of stainless steel cylinder of the same capacity); • Duralumin cylinder has a higher thermal conductivity, which is especially important in the processes of hydrogenation and dehydrogenation; • The inner coating of the hydrogen storage is a functional varnish that does not pass hydrogen to a temperature of 425 C. Such hydrogen accumulators can be recommended for the production, compression and storage of hydrogen at facilities remote from power supply systems and in need of high purity hydrogen. An equally important achievement of the first year of research is the creation of a pilot operating model of transport, which moves using the energy of a mobile hydrogen converter.
