For the susceptible TZEI16 line, the same levels of abscisic acid stress ripening1 (aasr1) gene expression were found in both osmotic stress (10% and 20% PEG 6000) and controls. In the DEN60 drought tolerant line, gene expression was not observed in the control, whereas under stress the expression level was twice (10% PEG 6000) and four times (20% PEG 6000) higher than the expression level of this gene in the susceptible line. Maize samples of different geographical origin, differing in the level of drought resistance, were analyzed by the genes ZmVPP1, LTP and the dehydrin genes (Dhn1 and ZmDhn13). Four different alleles of the ZmVPP1 gene and five different alleles of the Dhn1 locus were identified, differing in the size of the amplified product. Allele frequencies are determined. The predominance of certain alleles for drought-resistant and drought-sensitive genotypes was observed. Two alleles of the ZmDhn1 locus were detected: 88 bp. and 92 bp, which occurred with a frequency of 61.5 and 38.5%, respectively. These alleles were not associated with drought tolerance. Three different alleles 174, 177 and 187 bp were identified by the LTP gene (Lipid transfer protein). Drought resistant genotypes were characterized by a 174 bp allele, and drought sensitive genotypes were characterized by all three variants of alleles.
