The aim of the work is to create scientific bases and methodology of electrochemical synthesis of the latest composite coatings based on alloys of iron family with refractory metals, which, thanks to a range of unique properties, provide effective and reliable protection against destruction and wear of metal parts of civil and military purposes. The stages of reactions of reduction of cobalt with molybdenum, tungsten, zirconium and vanadium in ternary alloys and composite coatings are established and the general scheme of the mechanism of cathode process is offered. The influence of direct or pulsed current density on the composition, surface morphology and efficiency of the electrodeposition process of coatings is determined. It is proved that the phase composition of coatings deposited on direct and pulsed current differs due to a more complete reduction of intermediate oxides of alloying components (tungsten and molybdenum) by hydrogen atoms during interruption of polarization. The expediency of using pulsed current for deposition of more uniform in composition and morphology coatings of cobalt with tungsten, molybdenum and zirconium is shown. It is established that the composition of alloys includes incompletely reduced oxides of refractory metals, which is a feature of composite coatings, and the formation of the second phase occurs directly in the electrode process.
