The method of improving highly productive herds of cows of the Ukrainian black- and red-spotted dairy breeds on the basis of assessment of phenotypic traits and their connection with the animals genotype, body type, which ensures the herds’ milk productivity increase by 8-10%, milk fat content increase by 0.1-0.3%, protein – by 0.01-0.05%, and 0,5-1,0 (3.5-4.0) lactation duration of economic use has been approbated. The method of assessing a bathtub shape udder of high-yielding cows of new specialized dairy breeds is approved. It determines the capacity of a bathtub shape udder of high-yielding cows of new specialized dairy breeds, takes into account its glandulosity, positively correlates (r=+0,335-0,520) with milk yields for 305 days of lactation, can be a component of complex body structure indices and be used as a breeding trait of cows for milk productivity. The target standards of the desired type of cows of the Ukrainian black- and red-spotted dairy breeds of the Podillia stud farm type are determined. The part in creation the Leader stud farm line 1926780 in the Ukrainian red-spotted dairy breed is taken, the line was approbated by the State Expert Commission and approved by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine (Order No.21 dated Jan. 6, 2021). The use of daughters of this related group provides an increase in the average herd milk fat content by 0.1-0.3 %, protein – by 0.01-0.05%. The breeding and economic value of bulls and the best combination of lines are determined.
