The properties of the Gd isotope chain between the limits of proton and neutron stability have been studied in detail. Special attention was paid to the nuclei beyond the theoretically known neutron drip line (NDL), which in the (N, Z) space form the peninsula of stability (POS) of nuclei that are stable with respect to the emission of one or sometimes two neutrons for N = 184. The properties of magnetized strange quark stars, composed of strange quark matter (SQM) and self-bound by strong interactions, have been studied. Utilizing the MIT bag model description of magnetized SQM, the corresponding absolute stability window in the parameter space of the theory is determined.
