N. Sokolovsky» popup.description2  The object of research is the process of forecasting the physical degradation of arable soils of Ukraine. The purpose of research is to clarify the parameters of physical degradation of arable soils, to identify the regions of its greatest actual and possible manifestation, to substantiate a set of measures to prevent and eliminate degradation of arable soils based on systematization of existing information and processing of its regularity and distribution. Research methods - analytical, laboratory, statistical, cartographic. Theoretical results - the current state of the problem of physical degradation of arable soils is analyzed; the peculiarities of the manifestation of physical degradation in the natural and climatic zones of Ukraine have been established; the susceptibility of soils to physical degradation depending on the granular composition, humus content, aggregation, mechanical and chemical load is estimated. Practical results - pedotransfer models for the forecast of development of physical degradation of soils depending on soil-climatic and economic conditions are constructed and processed; areas of increased risk of physical degradation were identified; a set of measures to prevent and eliminate physical degradation on arable lands of Ukraine and a system of non-degradation agriculture have been developed. Scientific novelty lies in the improvement of criteria and normative parameters of physical degradation, conditions of its manifestation depending on soil properties and agrotechnologies, elaboration of measures taking into account the possibilities of innovative ways to overcome physical degradation. The efficiency of implementation is to increase grain yields by 5-10%, reduce the cost of growing them by combining technological operations and the use of soil-saving technologies for tillage, reducing the cost of inefficient measures to overcome the physical degradation of soils by 15-20%.
