The work purpose is a technology improvement of corundum chromium-containing low cement castable for service in carbon black production reactors. The research methods are chemical, physical-mechanical, petrographic ones. The influence of a new complex polycarbonate-based additive in comparison with a dispersing polyethylene glycol-based additive, which is used now, on structural and rheological properties (flowing during vibration, strength of formed structure) of coarse-grained low-cement corundum chromium-containing castable, as well as unburned and fired at a temperature of 1580 ºC vibrocasting samples from it, was studed. The optimal amount of new additive was established and it was found that, its effect on the structural and rheological properties of the indicated castable is similar to effect of the additive currently used. The results of carried out researches were applied at technology improvement of castable products from coarse-grained mix of the above mentioned composition which contains the new polycarbonate-based additive. According to the results of research carried out in 2019, the production technology of a new type of product — corundum with a complex additive of chromium oxide and zirconium products, which in terms of properties meet the requirements of TU, was mastered. In JSC “The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy” the pilot batches of low-cement corundum with chrome oxide additive castable with properties, which meet the requirements of TU, as well as low-cement corundum with chrome oxide additive coating with properties that meet consumer requirements, were manufactured. The made refractory products were delivered to consumer on the domestic market.
