The transgenic nature of the plants was confirmed by PCR analysis with primers specific for the pdh and npt II genes. Seed generation T1-T2 was obtained from transgenic plants T0. It has been shown that transgenic plants have a higher level of free L-proline accumulation and a lower level of activity of the enzyme proline dehydrogenase as well as a higher resistance to water deficiency and higher yields compared to the original plants. It was found that the activity of antioxidant enzymes in transgenic wheat plants under conditions of water deficiency is lower than in control. It has been shown that soil drought inhibits the intensity of photosynthesis, photorespiration and transpiration of wheat flag leaves, but in transgenic plants the degree of inhibition of these processes was less than in the original variety. In transgenic genotypes obtained by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation both in culture in vitro and by the planta method, a higher frequency of meiosis disorders was found.
