Pisarzhevskii Institute Of Physical Chemistry of The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  It has been shown that modification of ZnO/MgO(ZrO2)-SiO2 catalysts with alkaline (Na+, K+) and rare-earth (La3+, Ce3+) cation elements for the conversion of ethanol and ethanol-aqueous mixtures to obtain 1,3-butadiene contributes to the increase of selectivity for 1,3-butadiene and inhibition of ethanol dehydration. It was found that the presence of water in the reaction mixture, compared with the use of rectified ethanol, leads to a decrease in ethanol conversion and selectivity/yield of the 1,3-butadiene. This is due to the blocking of part of the seats of aldol condensation of acetaldehyde. It was found that the modification of Zn(Cu)ZrSi metal oxide systems by lanthanum compounds increases the selectivity for the 1,3-butadiene in the presence of water in the reaction mixture. The possibility of obtaining reactivity liquid rubbers by radical polymerization of diene in the presence of acetaldehyde in the raw material is shown.
