The object of research - changes in the functional stability of the components of landscapes of oil and gas areas under conditions of influence of different intensity. Stage 2020 - to establish patterns and direction of changes in the landscape components of oil and gas areas. The development of the oil and gas sector is a priority of the state within the strategy of achieving energy independence. The potential and prospects of oil and gas production development in Ukraine are assessed. The potential consequences of the impact of oil and gas production activities on the components of landscapes of oil and gas production areas have been studied. It is shown that the result of extraction and restoration works is a significant violation of the natural balance of environmental components, which creates risks for sustainable development of territories. The legislative and normative-methodical provision of environmental protection in the territories of oil and gas production is analyzed. It is shown that in the vast majority of regulatory documentation in force in Ukraine, the requirements and recommendations for environmental monitoring at the local and regional levels are insufficiently developed. The available information on the properties of the components of the landscapes of the Eastern oil and gas basin is summarized and the parameters of the initial properties are parameterized.
