The need to create a normative methodology for determining the category of danger of industrial waste is substantiated. According to the results of studies of the content of toxic components and their assessment according to the parameters of acute toxicity with the use of new approaches, which consist in the consideration of different ways of entering the body of chemicals, the categories (classes) of danger of the studied waste are determined. On the examples of waste heat and power and mining complex, the methodology for calculating the class of danger of industrial waste has been worked out.
