The subject of the research is the intrinsic and reflected thermal radiation of the millimeter and infrared range of the ground object. The purpose of the work is to create tools, methods and algorithms for evaluating the effectiveness of means of visibility reduction in the millimeter and infrared wavelength ranges and improving methods and means of visibility reduction. Research method a decomposition approach taking into account the results of the theory of extreme-correlation systems of aircraft navigation applied to the estimation of intrinsic and reflected thermal radiation. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of modern radiometric detection and reconnaissance systems, a method of active protection of ground objects by using of its own broadband illumination source is proposed. A numerical algorithm for determining the visibility of a ground object in the infrared range according to the specified characteristics of the thermal imaging system, the characteristics of the background and surface of the object, as well as weather conditions is worked out. Based on this algorithm, a method for evaluating the effectiveness of means of visibility reduction in the infrared range is proposed. The effectiveness of using gigahertz masking coatings to mask the object's hotspots is shown.
