The study of the visual culture of ethnic communities that lived within the territorial boundaries of Ukraine in the 20s and 30s will make it possible to understand how visual images were formed and determined during the period of economic upheavals and radical social changes, in the 20s and 30s. In this way, ethnic communities demonstrated to both the internal and external recipients their position, how they symbolically imagined their place in Soviet society, how to visually form the diversity of ethnic communities, perceive "economic" identity and "forget" their participation in politics, culture and history. In a broader sense, it is about how to visually appeal to the relationship of internal life, urban cultural environment and ideologies of the state and the ruling class. It is supposed to consider in the aspect of features of ethnic communities the basic tendencies and distinctive features of such sociocultural phenomenon, as visual culture. Emphasis is placed on the preconditions for the formation of visual culture in the 20's and 30's, characterizes the structure of society, its worldview, main features, on the example of national minorities living in a certain area within the modern administrative-territorial units of Ukraine. Direct subject analysis of the visual component of culture is based on a clear division of the entire sphere of visuality into the main dominant areas: everyday life, art and information space.
