The purpose of the work is to study the stages of formation of groups of marine organisms on different types of artificial polymers in laboratory and natural conditions. Research methods - development of experimental installations for research of formation of fouling on polymeric materials in laboratory and natural conditions. Short-term experiments were performed in laboratory and natural conditions to study the fouling of polymeric materials by microalgae. Methods for monitoring the formation and rate of fouling by macro- and meiobenthos organisms, as well as for assessing their quantitative indicators (numbers, biomass) was developed. For the first time in this region, experimental field investigations were conducted for study the stages of fouling on plastic substrates of the modern type. The study of the interaction of fouling organisms and plastic materials in the marine environment proposed to be considered as an integral environmental monitoring element, which will contribute to the formation and understanding of the "good ecological status" of the sea.
