The purpose of the study is to study the needs of the audience of local and national media in order to improve journalistic creativity in creating media content. Current trends in journalism are identified: cross-media, social media, convergence, globalization of social communications, the transition of print media, radio and television to the network, which determines the vector of research and practical activities of journalists. The main changes that have occurred in connection with the emergence of new trends in journalism: more modern design of traditional media; multimedia development; integration with social networks; delimitation of materials for traditional media and online versions. The audience's preferences for the use of audio platforms were found out: the listener chooses Fm-radio more often, playlists take the second place, and audiobooks have the third place on demand. Online radio and podcasts received the lowest rates. It is established that the scale of the use of audio formats among the audience in the perception of audio information by the audience changes, but the priority in the formats remains stable. Scope: education system: higher education institutions and other legal entities of all forms of ownership that provide educational services in the field of social communications and train specialists in the field of journalism; training laboratories and studios that form the practical skills of a journalist; mass media of regional and all-Ukrainian levels.
