The methodological complex of socio-philosophical research of modern society contains a dialectical-materialist approach, requires adherence to the principles of objectivity, unity of social theory and practice, self-organization and development of the world. The existential existence of society requires an axiological approach - to clarify the value system of modern society in a new format of social life. Intellectual understanding of modern social space is based on the fact that the search for truth - is a process and in the early stages it would be appropriate to concentrate the philosophical understanding of modern society on the peculiarities of its development. The purpose of the study is to clarify the essence, attributes, modes, genesis and socio-cultural determination of the main problems and trends in the modern world. Novelty: The main features of the development of modern society are described. Such attributes of modernity as: global systemic crisis of the world are specified; destruction of globalization in the format as it existed before the coronavirus pandemic; radical restriction of human freedom, reduction of the variety of forms of his labor, creative and communicative activity. The processes of modernity, such as the significant movement of human life into the virtual space of the Internet, social networks and mobile communications, have been identified and analyzed; non-contact in everything as the main format of activity in the coronavirus world; exacerbation of ideological confrontation and destructiveness in relations with wildlife.
