The aim is to identify the main trends in the development of Ukrainian memoirs of the late XX - early XXI centuries and its close connection with the literary process, to show its organic connection with the historical epoch. A database has been created to develop theoretical principles and research procedures, including works of Ukrainian writers in the field of non-fiction literature. Memoirs by genres are systematized and classified. The object of research is defined, the notion of nature and essence of memoir literature is stated. The socio-literary situation in Ukraine of the late XX - early XXI centuries and the role and place of Ukrainian writers in the development of artistic consciousness of the day are outlined, as well as how the national-cultural environment is reflected in literature and memoirs in particular. The stages of development of Ukrainian literary memoirs are characterized. A peculiar genre memoir paradigm and the main types of memoir creativity that have developed in Ukrainian literature are identified. The ways of realization of the personal factor in the literature of non fiction are determined. The way of memoirs of this period in the formation of knowledge about the era, literary life, writers' personalities is shown. The specifics of the poetics of Ukrainian memoirs of the end of the XX century are clarified. - the beginning of the XXI century. The place of memoirs in the literary process of the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century, in the formation of historical and literary views, the formation of the aesthetic consciousness of new generations is determined.
