The goal of work – development of physical basis of the creation of multifunctional materials, based on Al, Ti and Cu metal powders by high energy methods of their treatment by high voltage electric discharge (HVED), spark plasma sintering (SPS) and self-propagating high temperature synthesis. Methods of studies – mathematic modelling, physical experiment, registration of transient electric processes, methods of optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction structure analysis. High energy synthesis of functional nanostructured materials, based on Ti, Al, Cu and C, is realized. It was found out, that electric discharge impact on Ti – Al and Al – Cu powder systems, placed in organic liquid, results in grinding of powder, dispersity of which increases approximately 1.5 times with the increase of specific energy of high voltage electric discharge treatment in range from 5 up to 20 MJ/kg, as well as in additional formation of carbide and intermetallic phases, which are characteristic for each treated system. The most favorable conditions for grinding and synthesis of chemical compounds are provided by the use of volume-distributed multi-spark discharge and kerosene. Materials, characterized by high wear resistance due to content of hard TiC carbides, were obtained from Ti – Al powders, treated in such way, using the method of spark plasma sintering. Materials, consolidated from Al – Cu powder system, by their specific electric resistance are close to pure sintered copper and are prospective for use in electric contacts.
