The notion of civilizational subjectivity from the point of view of its typology and structure is carefully considered, the importance of Ukraine's acquisition of civilizational subjectivity from the point of view of national security is argued, sociocultural preconditions of Ukraine's development as a civilizational subject are considered, the interrelation between notions of civilizational subjectivity of Ukraine and its statehood. Modern man perceives the concept of "civilization" as a kind of direct fact and mostly uses this concept in a metaphorical sense, which has a clear evaluative color. In modern socio-humanitarian studies, civilizational discourses are used for value labeling, axiological and cultural distinction, or, conversely, affirmative generalization. They usually exist in the form of various cultural, less socio-cultural oppositions, such as: own / foreign, open / closed, friendly / hostile, agricultural / nomadic, modern / traditional, agrarian / industrial, or in the form of a triad that offers more a wide range of markers: own / foreign / other, or traditional / modern / postmodern or pre-industrial / industrial / post-industrial, etc. Thus, the notion of "civilizational subjectivity" is key to the production of identifying meanings for both society in general and civil society in particular.
