The aim of the work is synchronous and diachronic study of historiosophical and ethno-spiritual principles, their origins and changes in the literature and literary criticism of the XIX-XX centuries.The tasks of the research team were to highlight the conflicting and creative relationships between ideological and stylistic currents of the two-track literary process in complex geopolitical circumstances, to study the ethno-aesthetic, poetic and ideological specifics of writing, to clarify the figurative expression of Ukrainian freedom and unity, culture concepts in the literature, the expression of their national identity. Research methods: combined, as they combine literary reading of the text in interdisciplinary contexts. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study are the methodology of modern ethnoaesthetics, postcolonial studies, culturological comparative studies. An important place is occupied by a comprehensive approach to the analysis of the literary text and the literary process from the standpoint of hermeneutics and receptive poetics.
