Berezhnoy" popup.description2  The research object is alumina ceramics from alumina T brand which produced by slip casting, alumina MARTOXID brand. The purpose of the work is technology improvement of alumina ceramics. The methods of research are chemical, petrographic, electron microscopic, thermomechanical ones. Spectral, petrographic and electron microscopic studies of alumina T brand were carried out. It was established that, the alumina is composed of particles size 4–6 μm (~ 50–60 %) and 2–4 μm (~ 30–35 %) and contents Al2O3 more than 99.4 %. The influence of type and amount of dispersants on the dynamic viscosity of the aqueous alumina slip using alumina T brand was studied. It was established that, the dynamic viscosity of the slip is provided when using 0.1 % DISPEX but it is characterized by low sedimentation stability and a high speed of green body set. The properties of green body samples (apparent density 2.8 g/cm3, cold crushing strength 0.6 N/mm2) and samples after firing at 1580° C (apparent density 2.3 g/cm3, open porosity 28.5 %), which made from alumina T brand with 0.1 % DISPEX, were established. It was established that, the using of alumina T brand in its original form without additional preparation does not provide necessary properties of alumina ceramics. In accordance with the electron microscopic studies of alumina MARTOXID brand and a slip based on it with dispersant DISPEX, the need for preliminary mixing of alumina in water for at least 24 hours was established. The technology of alumina ceramics by slip casting into gypsum molds has been improved when a pilot batches were produced. In accordance with the terms of contracts, in JSC “The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy” the pilot batches of high refractory products were produced and transferred to consumers in the amount of financing.
