The onco-epidemiological situation in Ukraine is characterized by an increase in the incidence rate by 10.3% and a decrease in the mortality rate by 9.8% over 10 years. In the female population of Ukraine during this period the incidence of breast cancer increased by 10.2%, the peak incidence in 2016 was 65-69 years, the increase in this age group was 29.3%; the incidence of cervical cancer has not changed, the peak incidence in 2016 was 45-49 years and in this age group the increase was 14.0%. The incidence of colorectal cancer has a steady upward trend in both men and women - by 8.1% and 5.2%, respectively; the peak incidence in 2016 was 75-79 years, regardless of gender; the increase in this age group was formed due to malignant neoplasms of the colon and reached 19.5% in men and 23.3% in women. To assess the effectiveness of the implementation of screening programs on the basis of evidence-based medicine and taking into account the WHO recommendations, indicators for monitoring the effectiveness of population screening are proposed, namely the dynamics of the level of: cancer mortality by age; neglect of malignant neoplasms; mortality up to one year; survival of cancer patients. The concept of involving the National Cancer Registry in monitoring the effectiveness of information technology screening programs has been developed; the software was upgraded in accordance with the recommendations of the European Network of Cancer Registries (ENCR) and the requirements of ICDO-3.1 with automation of coding technology and the mentioned changes were implemented in the entire network of cancer registries in Ukraine.
