Research methods: a combination of general and special research methods was used in the work, in particular within the second stage the following research methods were used: methods of analysis and synthesis, method of economic and statistical analysis - in identifying current trends and features of development of NTD of the countries of the world; method of comparisons and analogies - in the identification and analysis of contradictions in the development of national components of NTD; method of integrated assessment - in the development of methods for building ratings of scientific and technical competitiveness of the world; methods of multicriteria analysis, TOPSIS - to calculate the rankings of scientific and technical potential of the world and its economic efficiency, graphical method - to visualize the results of evaluation of rankings and their dynamics using matrices; methods of grouping and construction of Kohonen maps - for grouping and clustering of countries around the world according to the level of their scientific and technical competitiveness.
