Makarenko popup.description2  The methodological foundations of the study of the state of health of the population of the Sumy region are specified; proposed a methodology for studying the state of health of the population; for the first time was created a series of medical-geographical and nosogeographic maps of the Sumy region; was carried a detailed analysis of the demographic situation in the Sumy region out based on indicators such as population size, fertility, mortality and natural population decline, age and sex structure of the population and it was found that the demographic situation in the region, which has been observed in recent years, remains difficult, despite some improvement in demographic indicators, such as a slight increase in the birth rate, a decrease in mortality and a slowdown in the rate of decline of natural population; for the first time the assessment of the state of morbidity of the population with diseases of the respiratory system, digestion, infectious diseases and it was found that the territorial differentiation of population health indicators and their dynamics in the Sumy region indicate the presence of significant intraregional differences.
