An analysis of the scientific and technical literature on the relationship between the diameter of the fraction of bottom sediments and their geoacoustic parameters has been conducted. A methodology and software for quantifying signal spectra have been developed. A number of measurements have been carried out in experimental studies: reflected signals from predetermined types of soil have been recorded, and correlative processing of emitted and reflected echo signals has been carried out. Remote methods for determining geoacoustic properties of bottom sediments are proposed. The set of algorithms for processing information of a hydroacoustic profiler has been developed, implemented and verified by the method of mathematical modelling. The mathematical apparatus of a two-frequency method for determining the acoustic energy attenuation coefficient in the sediment layer has been developed. The acoustic energy attenuation factor in the sediment layer is determined by mathematical modeling and profiling.
