MIDDLE POLISSYA OF UKRAINE, CALENDAR CUSTOMS, CALENDAR CEREMONIES, MAPPING The object of the study is traditional calendar customs and rituals of the spring and summer cycle in the Middle Polisses in the 1950s and 1980s: features of their structure, functions, symbols, semantics, and terminology. The purpose of the scientific research work is a generalization and systematization of the factual field material and the determination of the general regional and local features of the traditional ritual phenomena of the spring and summer cycle of the Middle Polissya, the establishment of areas and borders of their spreading. The methodological principles of the work are the principles of historicism and systemic in the study of traditional folk culture, which has been found in the interdependent use of the complex of subsequent research methods: comparative-ethnographic, structural, typological, cartographic. The methods of work were also field ethnographic studies, built based on interviews and observation. In order to clarify and supplement the factual base of the mapped phenomena, two thematic expeditions were carried out to 17 settlements of Ivankovsky, Vyshgorod district of Kyiv region and 25 settlements of Dubrovitsky, Sarnensky district of Rivne region and Olevsk district Zhytomyr region, during which more than 40 hours of audio information were recorded from 80 respondents. The analysis of empirical data obtained during the expeditionary research of the DNTsZKSTK in 1994-2019, their systematization in the form of tables of the structural structure of calendar ritual phenomena was carried out. The selection and classification of its components that meet the methodological principles of mapping are carried out: take into account the specific multifunctionality of ritual phenomena and the territorial variability of their compositions.
