The aim of the research is to launch a geographic information interactive map with the development of a WEB-resource, which will be the first one to accumulate important processes related to the Second World War, including a mapping of the 1939, 1946 and present borders; the main components and events which took place in Ukrainian society during the war: dates of the German occupation, the expulsion of the Nazis from Ukraine, the crimes committed in the occupied territories; places and dates of battles of liberation formations against the troops of aggressors. The methodology of the research is based upon the literature sources, which include archival data of TsDAVO of Ukraine, TsDAHO of Ukraine, monographs, reference books, periodicals, cartographic sources. Theoretical and practical outcomes – the creation of the first in Ukraine innovative geographic information map, which will visualize the geographical and events-based contexts of the Second World War, enabling data selection at the global and local levels. Innovation – the project, being a single product, concentrates geographical indicators, infographics and scientifically reliable information for each locality of Ukraine. Demonstration of the electronic map will provide the efficiency and interactivity of the submitted events, facts and statistics, expand and transform the information in accordance with the required coordinate system. The geographic information interactive map will systematize the facts and events of the Second World War which took place on Ukrainian lands. Implementation effectiveness – the final product is expected to become an important tool for the scientific community, local historians, fans of military history, etc. Field of use includes publication of books and periodicals, specialized software products, WEB-portals, educational activities, museum projects.
