The analysis of steam generator (GHG) constructions is carried out, which allows to monitor the GHG condition and evaluate its stress-strain state in normal operating conditions and emergency situations. Ways to increase the strength of horizontal GHGs are also investigated. The issues of material selection of GHG heat exchange tubes and the possibility of ensuring their reliable operation during the design life are considered. The experience of operation is analyzed and the ways of solving the arisen problems are shown. Studies of the stress-strain state of the heat exchange tubes of the steam generator as multilayer cylindrical shells under the action of stationary external loads are carried out.
