The object of research is sea waters and the Black Sea ecosystem within the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine. The purpose of the work is to assess and diagnose the state of biocenoses and biodiversity of marine ecosystems. Research methods - studies of aquatic organisms at the population (biocoenotic) level, during which the state of planktonic and benthic groups of marine ecosystems was registered. The report presents the results of observations on the hydrobiological component of marine ecosystems of the seas of Ukraine in 2020, the ecological criteria and species-indicators assessed the state of plankton and benthos biota. Structural changes in groups of aquatic organisms are noted and their condition is determined. Modeling of processes of influence of extracted pollutants of bottom sediments of marine environment in laboratory conditions on microalgae population is carried out. In the Odessa region, there were 2 large-scale cases of "blooming" of water caused by the mass development of microalgae: cyanobacteria Nodularia spumigena Mert. ex Bornet et Flahault and dinophytic alga Lingulodinium polyedra (Stein) Dodge.
