Skovorody popup.description2 Subject of research: homeostatic mechanisms, mathematical methods of their description and their mathematical models, in particular models of the system of regulation of carbohydrate metabolism and its parts. Object of research: physiological processes in the homeostatic endocrinological system of regulation of carbohydrate metabolism. Research methods. Methods of mathematical computer modeling in the class of dynamic models in the form of ordinary differential equations and differential equations with a late argument, Volterra integral equations, methods of analytical and numerical solution of these equations, methods of identifying values of their parameters from clinical patient data, numerical methods computer model experiments and methods of statistical analysis of numerical clinical data and the results of their computer model processing. Relevance and scientific novelty of the study: the problem of effective mathematical modeling of human physiological systems is one of the central in modern science, the solution of which has long been working not only physicians and physiologists, but also mathematicians and engineers. Without its solution, it is impossible to improve existing and develop new automated biotechnical systems (BTS) for medical purposes. Existing such BTS are essentially informational. They are intended only for the automated control of physiological data of the patient which are possible for direct measurement. The most effective assessment of the degree of pathology and early diagnosis of endocrine diseases, in particular diabetes mellitus, could be based on the numerical values of the parameters that characterize the relevant processes, more precisely on their deviations from the norm. However, the parameters required for such a diagnosis cannot be directly investigated in a clinical setting. Key words: mathematical modeling, functional-structural approach, homeostasis, carbohydrate metabolism, glucose, absorption, insulin, diagnost.
