The subject of research - mechanisms for combating separatism in Ukraine, proposed on the basis of a multidisciplinary approach (law, political science, economics). The main purpose of this project is a scientific substantiation of existing and promising methods of combating separatism in Ukraine. In the second phase of work, in 2020, the main focus was on finding the economic, social and legal reasons behind separatism. Along with the definition of such reasons, the subject of the study were the mechanisms of deoccupation and economic, political, legal reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Also the subject of research at this stage was to determine the best world legal, political and economic practices of public policy in the field of combating separatism and opportunities for their implementation in Ukraine. Another subject is to find out the economic consequences of the emergence of separatist movements in the state, the separation of part of the territory of the state. From the economic point of view at this stage a scientific analysis of the theory of separatism and its economic basis, with the definition of lack of unity of views as an indicator of diversity of basic interests, theoretical and empirical approaches to research and identification of economic motives and consequences of separation and separatism based on international experience. the place and role of economic factors among the determining factors in the implementation of secessionist strategy. From a political point of view, the theory and history of the media's influence on military campaigns, the liberal paradigm in the formation of European security, separatism in Scotland, the interests and aspirations of the Normandy format, the Syrian issue in the strategies of international coalitions and transnational criminal groups as a threat sovereignty.
