The purpose of the work is to obtain effective methods of local and global optimization for optimization problems of synthesis of spatial configurations by modifying existing and creating new methods. Research methods - methods of geometric design, discrete mathematics and operations research. Modifications of local optimization methods have been developed, such as the combined method of decomposition using a solver based on the IPOPT internal point method; method of possible directions; gradient projection method; the method of optimization by groups of variables and the method of descent based on the analysis of Lagrange factors. Modifications of global search methods such as the method of branches and boundaries have been developed; the method of narrowing neighborhoods; genetic algorithm; method of homothetic transformations; the method of directed search of local extremums (Jump Algorithm); multistart method. These modifications take into account the specifics of the tasks of synthesis of spatial configurations A new method of artificially expanding the space for global search as a way to improve local solutions has been developed and substantiated. The method is based on the introduction of additional artificial variables, which allows to overcome the gravitational regions of local extrema.
