The object of research is the development of the system of professional military education in Ukraine. The purpose of the work is to develop proposals for the institutional development of the system of professional military education in Ukraine. Research methods - to achieve this goal following scientific approach and research methods were used in work: observation - during the systematic purposeful study of the object in order to obtain primary information; comparison - when comparing the state of the system of vocational military education in Ukraine with the systems of vocational military education in the leading NATO member countries; abstraction - during the selection of the most important in the system of professional military education in Ukraine, empirical analysis - during the selection of components of the system of professional military education in Ukraine; system analysis - during the separation of such elements in the system of professional military education in Ukraine that have a decisive influence on military training; synthesis - during the evaluation of the system of professional military education in Ukraine. The state of development of professional military education at the tactical level in the context of modern tasks of the security and defense sector is analyzed; The main directions of improving the institutional support for the functioning of the system of professional military education at the tactical level are identified. As a result of these studies, it was found that the institutional support for the functioning of the system of professional military education at the tactical level needs to be improved. Based on the results of the research, proposals have been developed on the requirements for military training of officers and military specialists in the system of professional military education.
