The purpose of the study: to increase the technical and economic indicators of steelmaking and foundry production.Research methods and equipment: laboratory installation for experimental study of electrical conductivity of liquid slag, high-temperature microscope MNO-2, physical and mathematical modeling, method of mathematical statistics. In order to use slags for ESR of rational chemical composition, experimental studies of the electrical conductivity of some slags used in special electrometallurgy processes were performed. The obtained experimental results correspond well to the literature data on fluxes with a chemical composition close to the studied ones and to the calculation data according to the empirical formula recommended in the literature. The results of the research allow us to recommend for industrial use fluxes AN-14 and AN-15, which, moreover, contain a small amount of harmful fluorspar. The application of methods of mathematical statistics for the calculation of the carbon content in the melt of the metal intermediate after oxygen conversion in converters with a capacity of 300 t with a combined purge allows not to perform chemical analysis of the metal. The technology and mechanism of waste generation of metallurgical production of MMC "named after Ilyich" are analyzed. It is suggested how to use secondary materials (scrap of slag heaps) for steel production. A sequential series of aluminum oxides and analysis of their structural and chemical state on the basis of quantum mechanical parameters of aluminum and oxygen, which determine the modern theory and technology of aluminum production and its use in steelmaking, are presented. The nature of redistribution of carbon, silicon, manganese, sulfur and phosphorus in cast iron molds during their operation has been studied. The decisive role of thermodiffusion in this process is shown.
