The object of research is the technology of production of periclase-carbon refractories on modified phenol-formaldehyde resin. The paper presents an analytical review of the production of periclase-carbon refractories, properties, prospects for the use of phenol-formaldehyde resins and the use of these materials in metallurgical production. The thermodynamic calculation of the MgO-C-Al system, the technological scheme of periclase-carbon refractories production are presented, the physical and mechanical properties of materials heat-treated at 180 C are determined, the results of DTA masses, X-ray diffraction samples of heat-treated samples at 1400 C are given. With samples and slag resistance was determined. Effective refractory materials with open porosity of 8-10%, apparent density of 2.74-2.85 g / cm3, compressive strength of 74-82 MPa and high slag resistance were obtained. The obtained materials by their properties meet the requirements of the current regulatory and technical documentation for periclase-carbon refractories.
