Based on the results of the analysis, the requirements for the process of functioning of the distance learning system are substantiated, the method of determining the appropriate construction option and the typical structure of the distance learning system of a higher military educational institution are developed. The analysis of the results of the application of the developed methodology made it possible to substantiate the recommendations on the organization of the distance learning system of the higher military educational institution. The chosen direction of research is related to the implementation of the operational goal 5.2. Of the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine - "Improvement of the system of military education and training." The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the in-depth formalization of the functioning process and the development of a method for determining the appropriate option for building a system of distance learning of a higher military educational institution. The practical significance of the research results lies in the formation of a tool for the rational construction of a system of distance learning of a higher military educational institution in terms of resource constraints. Some provisions of the obtained theoretical positions and practical results were tested during international scientific and practical conferences and implemented in the educational process of the National University of Defense of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky.
