The main purpose of the study is to provide theoretical support, substantiation and preparation of recommendations for improving activities in the law enforcement sphere, including law enforcement agencies. The purpose and objectives of the study were realized through the integrated application of general scientific and special legal research methods. In particular, the following methods were used among general scientists: dialectical - in the study of the peculiarities of the acquisition of statute of limitations in civil law, as well as its application allowed to determine the specific category of grounds for exemption from civil liability for damages, considering them in the context of civil liability; system-structural analysis - during the study of the current Central Committee of Ukraine and other regulations to establish the legal nature of the acquisitive prescription; analysis and synthesis - in establishing the legal nature of civil law protection of ancient possession; induction and deduction - to determine the place of acquisitive prescription as a complex category among other institutions of civil law; modeling - to design possible problem situations when applying the acquisitive prescription and variations of their solution. Among the special legal in the work used the following methods of cognition: historical and legal analysis - in the study of the development of the institution of acquisitive prescription in civil law and its current state; formal-logical.
