The purpose of the work is to determine the probability of methane ignition from the implementation of piezoelectric effects in sandstone during excavation works in the mine of PJSC «Management of the mine "Pokrovske". Research methods - laboratory experiments according to the developed methods, analysis of results, calculations according to standard methods. As a result of the work, the analysis of the state of the problem of ignition of methane-air mixture during the destruction of sandstones was performed. Physico-mechanical and mechanoelectric researches of rocks of «Management of the mine "Pokrovske" are executed. Calculations of the possibility of the influence of mechanoelectric effects on the processes of ignition of methane-air mixture in the conditions of «Management of the mine "Pokrovske" are performed. A study of the manifestations of piezoelectric effects in rocks with their uniaxial compression and destruction. Samples of different sandstones without moisture saturation at "simple" and "double" moisture saturation are considered. On the basis of researches of the selected samples of sandstone it is shown that for conditions of «Management of the mine "Pokrovske" ignition of methane-air mix at conducting mining operations on a excavation site from realization of piezoelectric effects is improbable.
