Research object: functional aging and indices of energy metabolism in fruit flies, and physiological parameters of young mice that consume certain food supplements. Purpose of work: to determine the ability of plant extracts with high content of phenylpropanoids and separate chemical compounds to slow down the functional aging of fruit flies and modulate energy metabolism of flies, as well as to start experiments on the effects of certain food additives on physiological aging of mice. Research methods – biochemical, and physiological, methods of mathematical statistics. Results and novelty: Anise hyssop, chili, DNP, and FA promote better survival of flies under heat and cold stresses, starvation and influence of oxidants, but do not affect fecundity of flies. Golden root has no effect, while anise hyssop and FA increase, and chili, DNP, and AKG decrease the content of storage lipids in the body of flies in a sex-dependent manner. Chili pepper, FA, and DNP regulate glucose metabolism by slowing down the rate of glycolysis, whereas FA acts also by slowing down the pentose phosphate pathway. Rhodiola and FA increase the activities of enzymes of amino acid metabolism. Chili, DNP, FA, golden root, and AKG modulate the respiratory activity of mitochondria. AKG or golden root extract to the basic diet had no effect, whereas FA decreased body weight of young mice. A high-calorie diet (HCD) based on lard did not cause obesity in young mice, while HCD based on "cafeteria" products led to weight gain. Only AKG decreased body weight of mice on the background of HCD. HCD of both types caused anxiety and depressive behavior in young mice, and these changes were not significantly corrected by the addition of AKG or FA. Both FA and the golden root extract improved spatial memory in young mice.
