Research subject - is the regularities of the influence of deposition conditions on the formation of multi-element vacuum-arc nitride coatings. Purpose of the study is to solve the problem of creating superhard, crack-resistant, adhesive-resistant coatings for a wide range of applications, through the development and implementation of a new scientific approach to structural engineering of interlayer interaction in nanowire layers of multiperiod vacuum-arc composites based on transition metal nitrides. Research methods: phase-structural state was investigated by X-ray diffraction (DRON-4) and X-ray fluorescence (SPRUT) analyzes; surface morphology and elemental composition of the coatings were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (XL 30 ESEM), microhardness was determined using microhardness testers. Results and novelty: - for the first time the measurement of the ratio of the intensities of the peaks of Compton and Rayleigh scattering of monochromatic X-rays was used; - the theory of calculations of distribution of chemical elements on depth of a covering is developed; - modes for Ti-N and Cr-N are defined; - the possibility of obtaining a level of hardness of the order of 24 GPa on low-element coatings of the CrN type, with an average roughness of 90 nm; - improvement of the multi-element FeMnNiCoCr system by extracting Mn and adding V, Cu, Al, N with the formation of the FeNiCoCrVCuAlN system.
