Registration Date 13-09-2021 Organization Kharkiv National Medical University popup.description2  A critical analysis of traditional radiobiological characteristics used to describe many radiobiological effects has been performed. It is shown that some of these characteristics need to be clarified in view of the main provisions of the mutation-evolutionary theory. A mathematical model of DNA damage of cells during irradiation with liquid ionizing radiation at different degrees of oxygenation of these cells is proposed. The probability of formation of gaps in the DNA of irradiated cells depending on the radiation dose and the concentration of oxygen in the irradiated medium was evaluated. New: conceptual interpretations of some known radiobiological effects are presented, in particular, interpretation of mechanisms of repair of double-stranded DNA breaks and DNA-protein crosslinks in an irradiated cell, formation of radioadaptive response when irradiating cells with small doses of X-ray and gamma radiation. Analyzed: physical and mathematical models of cell survival curves, which are currently used in radiobiology to optimize radiation exposure in remote radiation therapy and presented a new interpretation of the so-called "shoulder" on the curve "dose - radiobiological effect".
