The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally test the effectiveness of organizational and pedagogical conditions of the University of the third age. At the time of the research work it is planned to solve the following tasks: 1) to analyze the conceptual and terminological apparatus of the research; 2) to carry out the analysis of normative-legal maintenance of education of people of the third age; 3) substantiate the organizational and pedagogical conditions of the University of the third age; 4) to find out the psychological features of the education of the elderly; 5) to develop educational and methodical support (methodical recommendations, educational programs) of training of people of the third age. The object of research is the education of the elderly. The subject of research - organizational and pedagogical conditions of the University of the third age. Research methods: theoretical (analysis of philosophical, scientific and pedagogical, psychological, sociological, methodological literature on the problem of research, comparison, systematization, interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data, comparison; generalization of theoretical material; semantic analysis of conceptual and terminological apparatus); empirical (observations; interviews, questionnaires); methods of mathematical statistics for quantitative and qualitative analysis of the obtained results and their statistical processing; pedagogical experiment.
