Modern methodological approaches to the reconstruction of historical processes, which took place at different stages: the functioning of government institutions, church institutions, the functioning of religious cults, everyday phenomena and legal regulators of everyday life. The processes of formation and development of power institutions and their decline due to the intervention of external factors are considered. Hetmanate as the successor of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which was also genetically closely related to the traditions of military democracy of the Zaporozhian Sich, throughout its history has not become a rigidly unitary state and it was not characterized by unified power and social structures. Despite the efforts of many hetmans to rise above their entourage, in the perception of a senior Cossack officer (a stratum of which was formed primarily by colonels as well as general officers), the regiment was only the first among equals. The mutual influences of the East and the West in the processes of formation of the religious culture of the Kyiv metropolitanate are investigated, the main directions of its discipline and ordering are determined. The peculiarities of everyday life in urban societies on the basis of testamentary sources are studied. The formation of local religious cults, the processes of their spread and attempts of discipline and control by the tsar in the Left Bank of Ukraine during the Hetmanate are considered. This type of discipline reveals the processes of emergence of religious cults and the dissemination of information about them, as well as ways to worship these icons, which, in addition to pilgrimages, prayers and worship, involved the manufacture and bringing of votive objects.
