An installation with a combined electrothermal fluidized bed was created to apply pyrocarbon to the quartz sand. To determine the possibility of obtaining SiC by carbothermal reduction of pyrocarbon, which is formed during the direct pyrolysis of hydrocarbon gases, a reactor scheme with a "classical" electrothermal fluidized bed was used. As a result of the carried out experimental researches it is basically proved that from the quartz sand encapsulated by pyrocarbon at oxygen-free high-temperature processing in the temperature range of 1500 ... 1600 ° C in ETFB it is possible to receive fine SiC.
