Luk'yanova of National academy of medical sciences of Ukraine" popup.description2  As a result of the research, a systematic analysis of tools for assessing the organization of medical care for mothers and children in developed countries and Ukraine, normative-legal regulation of medical care for mothers and children in Ukraine, content analysis of medical statistics, research on the role of medical and social factors to determine indicative indicators, the main, valid criteria for evaluating the activities of the maternal and child health service have been identified. It was found that the methodology for developing assessment tools in all developed countries is a phased process and makes it possible to identify potential problems in the process of providing health care. It is determined that the Laws and other normative acts of Ukraine in general comply with international documents and proclaim the provision of sustainable access of women and children to health care services. Existing forms of state and sectoral statics make it possible to assess the main WHO-recommended, indicative indicators excluding morbidity, the frequency of exclusively breastfeeding, children under 5 years with stunted growth, overweight. The main indicative indicators developed, taking into account the usefulness, scientific validity, clarity, accessibility and reliability, are the most optimal and suitable for assessing the activities of maternal and child health services at the national, regional levels and in the health care institution.
